Description

Always nipping at the heels of Dura Ace.

The Shimano PD-R670 pedal is exactly the same as the Ultegra PD-6700 pedal except that is comes in a color called Galaxy Black. The color change makes it perhaps an easier choice for those riders using dark, carbon fiber cranks, or maybe the lack of an Ultegra logo makes it a better choice if you're riding with SRAM components. It's a great choice especially if a wide, stable cleat platform is what you seek in a pedal.

Like the PD-6700, the R-670 uses a chromoly steel-spindle, aluminum pedal body, and composite cleat retention bar. The spring tension is adjustable via a 2.5mm hex bolt in the top of the retention mechanism and the settings are visible through a small window on the back so you can make sure that each pedal is adjusted to match. Each pedal runs on two sets of ball bearings. There is a stainless steel plate atop the pedal so any cleat rub will wear the plate without damaging the rest of the body. The pedal comes with the same SM-SH11 floating cleat (the one with the yellow wear tabs). It is designed for three degrees of float from center, in both directions. Stack height is 14.3mm

The Shimano PD-R670 Pedals come with a pair of cleats and mounting hardware for standard three-hole applications.

  • Sole axle distance: 14.5 for better power transfer
  • SPD-SL 3-bolt ‘Look inspired’ cleats

Black 105 pedals

These pedals are great. I got a pair of these at Christmas time because I knew I had to change to the Shimano pedal system, for my realcyclist.com pro team. I went with the cheapest of the current shimano options, but got much, much more than I wanted. They look great, and offer the same mechanism as the Dura-Ace and Ultegra versions, but are just a tad heavier. I would want you to know though, the black on the pedals, while it looks great, is only painted on, so it does wear off a little where you are clipped into the pedals. It could easily be covered with a black marker however...

Quaulity!

The new Shimano pedals are nothing less than perfect. With the push of many new technologies, Shimano stays true to what works. A solid platform for ultimate power transfer. Lighter and stiffer then the previous year. This pedal sets the bar for performance and quality.

If you are looking for a high quality platform pedal they have a few on the sister Mountain Bike site Huck and Roll, link below. OTherwise if you are looking for a cheap basic pedal try walmart or your local bike shop.

Great Peddals, Not Exactly Ultegra...

These are good pedals. Shimano lists them as part of the Ultegra line of products. However, unlike the picture here shows they do not say Ultegra anywhere on them. They provide a nice stable platform and have rock solid bomb proof construction. When you step into these there is no question whether or not you are “in”, even with the tension turned all the way down this is a stable strong set of pedals. Only reason for 4 stars is Realcyclist.com’s slightly inaccurate photo.

Are these cleatless pedals

you got the correct pedal for the model number you bought. The picture you uploaded is of the R670, the picture that realcyclist uploaded is of the newer 6700. Essentially the same pedal, the 6700 is a cosmetic update to match the rest of the ultegra line.

I know I got the model I purchased (and it is a great product) but my point is the website is displaying an image of a different product then what you wil receive.
