Don’t skimp on your brakes.

The redesign of the Shimano 9000-series calipers gives you better control in the palms of your hands than previous iterations. Rather than relying on the "old standard" single pivot point where the movement of the caliper came from the mounting bolt, the 9000 series uses a dual pivot. This design centers the brake arms over the wheel which, in turn, creates equal tension on both arms when the cable is pulled. This is done through a rolling cam that operates separately from the mounting bolt. The dual pivot design places the pads closer to the rims, which increases modulation. In addition, a twin bearing system within the 9000 reduces friction making your braking predictable.

the best of the shimano caliper brakes!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

i've used these several times so it seemed like the perfect upgrade for my pops rig (replaced some off brand cheapies). he loves the upgrade and still considers me his favorite son, i'm the only son so that may have already been in the bag!

Looks and power

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Upgraded my bike from 6800 to these and immediately can feel the difference. Better modulation and power are immediately noticeable.

Will these work with Sram Red brake levers? I am swapping over to etap and was considering keeping my Ultegra 6800 calipers or upgrading to these Dura Ace Calipers.

I am wondering the same thing. Any advice?

solid smooth stopping

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There probably isn't a better caliper brake out there. I run carbon wheels and with carbon pads I feel like I stop better than I ever had.

yes, better braking than the 7900

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was skeptical spending the money to upgrade my 7900 calipers to these but there really is a big difference in braking power, and not just because I started with fresh pads. :)

I have been running these with 7900 levers with no issue. Worth the upgrade for sure.

Holy Braking POWER!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The modulation in these brakes and the improved braking power is incredible!! Dura Ace 9000, is by far the best gruppo on the road I feel!

Will this be compatible with the Shimano...

Will this be compatible with the Shimano 105 (2013) levers?

These are compatible with all the 11 spd shimano systems but Shimano hasn't approved them for use with the 10 speed brake levers.

I found this information recently - just FYI -

?Compatible with STI and brake levers that are Super SLR enabled (e.g. Dura Ace Di2 7970, Dura Ace 7900, Ultegra Di2 6770, Ultegra 6700, 105 5700, Tiagra 4600)
