Dura-Ace 7900 Brake Cable

When you're flying down a mountain and looking at an upcoming chicane, the last thing that you need to worry about are your brakes. So, when you're ready to throw compromise out the window, re-cable your bike with the Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 Inner Brake Cable. It's PTFE coated, which translates into precise braking and some of the lowest drag values on the market.

Brake cables deteriorate, which is why quality is everything. So, true do the spirit of the Dura-Ace lineage, Shimano pulled out all of the stops. Like its more basic cables, you'll find a smooth, drag-free stainless steel surface. The main difference, however, is the cable's PTFE coating. This a 'generic' name for a widely used low-friction additive that reduces the drag between the cable and housing to an absolute minimum. So, when you squeeze your brake levers, every ounce of power goes into clamping your pads onto your rim, instead of overcoming unnecessary friction. As you'd expect, it's a cut-to-fit affair when it comes time for installation. Along these lines, Shimano provides 1700mm of brake cable -- an ample length proper installation.

The Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 Inner Brake Cable is available individually and in a 1.6x1700mm size. Please note that this cable is not compatible with mountain brake levers, and that it does not include housing.
