Description

It doesn’t get much better than Shimano Dura-Ace consultants.

The Shimano Dura-Ace BB-7900 Bottom Bracket is a simple and straightforward component. You'll get two cups with low-drag, high-precision Dura-Ace bearings, plus a cylindrical dust cover that mates the two cups. What's the difference between the Dura-Ace BB-7900 bottom bracket and the previous generation BB-7800? The primary change is in the bearing seals -- they have a new design to reduce drag, to create smoother rotation, and to add durability. Available for either English (68) or Italian (70) threading.

Dura Ace BB

It's real simple here... if you're gonna do Ultegra why wouldn't you just pay 5 more dollars for this BB? How often can you really upgrade from Ultegra quality, which is great, to Dura Ace quality which is even greater?

Replacement for FSA

After my FSA BB-6000 (MegaExo) went crunchy I looked around and everyone said that the BB-6000 had a very short life, especially if you ride the bike in the rain. Luckily the FSA Gossamer is compatible with Shimano BBs, and a few taps with a rubber mallet later I am spinning smoothly. Not only was this cheaper than the FSA BB-6000 it is noticeably smoother. I am now looking to just replace the crank altogether with something lighter and stiffer, but that is another story.

I would like to know whether or not the 7900 bottom bracket is compatable to a 7800 crank. I have a brand new 7800 crank but I have been unable to find a 7800 bottom bracket.

Best Answer Responded on

Yes, the 7900 is compatible and will work. This is just a newer model than the 7800, but compatibility wise, nothing has changed.

Is this bb compatible with a Pinarella crank on a Pinarella Galileo with Ultegra components

Responded on

I do not believe so.
The best picture I can find of a Galileo with Ultegra is from 2007 and appears to have a 3 piece Splined Most crank on it.
Your best bet will be to take the bike to your local Bike Shop and they can let you know what BB is correct for your Most Crank.

Can I use this bottom bracket with my Ultegra crank? and does it matter whether it is a 9 or 10 speed?

Responded on

Yes, As long as the Ultegra crank is designed to use an External BB. Make sure you get the right threading for your frame (English or Italian)

Is the Dura Ace 7900 BB compatible with the R700 Crankset?

Responded on

Yes it will work, most people use the cheaper Ultegra version, FC6600 but the nicer Dura Ace will be just fine.
