Here's what others have to say...

Will this cover two brakes (ie, will it do both front and rear or will I need two kits?)

Responded on

It depends on how dirty the fluid is, how much you need to flush, If you are completely filling fresh, then yes this will cover 2 brakes.

MINERAL OIL IS THE WAY TO GO

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

great stuff, shimano makes the best brakes and components to go with them period!

try it!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

if you haven't bled brakes before, don't be intimidated. super simple. read the online guide, and use basic intuition about how bubbles work (they go up.) it'll work fine. did my shimano xt brakes first try, no hassle.

Just make sure you own one.

I have fixed so many peoples brakes at the races we have put on and even before epic rides we have taken.
Even if you don't know how to bleed your own brakes don't add insult to injury when you show up and there is a person that can bleed them but you aren't even prepared enough to supply your own fluid.
This should be part of anyones tool kit if you own shimano hydraulic brakes. Oh, and keep an extra pair of brake pads with you too.

Needs the cups!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This kit is great but you need to get the cups for it elsewhere. Luckily the cups are like $5 so you can still bleed your brakes for cheap!

check park tool for instructions if you need them

not sure what you can really say about this... i have heard other brakes suck to bleed in comparison but these are the only ones i have tried. I'm glad there are bleed kits available though so i don't have to always for it at a shop cause i am PO'. Also, not pictures, the kit comes with a plastic bag, but you can use any sandwich bag. I also used a twist tie and a paper clip to keep it in place. Oh... and there are no actual instructions on bleeding your brakes, so if this is your first time you will need to look that up somewhere us. Parktool has a really good step-by-step info page with a couple pictures.
