Pro Saddle

Selle SMP’s uniquely designed saddle features a wide cutout to reduce pressure from the inside of the saddle, while also giving you a medium to wide platform to support your pelvis. The shape of the nose is distinct and it serves to provide a flat base while seated. Some riders, especially TT specialists, prefer to tip the nose down to the UCI legal limit to remove the pressure they would normally feel when they sit on the nose. The back of the saddle has a slight upward sweep to keep you in place and avoid sliding back and forth along the saddle during uphill efforts. This reduces additional friction and discomfort. It also helps to reduce pressure on the coccyx.

The Pro uses elastomer foam that gives just enough to provide vibration dampening. The foam is wrapped in leather for the black version and Lorica for the colored versions. The shell was constructed of a solid nylon-carbon composite on stainless steel rails.

I'm a convert

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

After seeing these saddles a few times, I read the reviews and decided to try one on a new gravel bike build. I wish I would have tried their saddles a while ago. The first long ride I had on it showed that it was quite different. So much less numbness and gone were the hot spots. You may need to play a bit with the angle, and it's a bit of a change to be in the scoop of the saddle, rather than just sitting on top of it. Saddles are very personal, but a lot of folks never really try many out. And plenty of people never go with anything different that what came on the bike from the shop. But it can feel better, and it often takes tries before you find a saddle that fits you well. I think that I'll be sticking with SMP for a while now and want them on every bike.
