If your quest for a competition saddle has turned to one of seeking comfort and race design, then the Selle Italia SLS Kit Carbonio Flow Saddle is for you. With a flexible shell, an anatomic cutout, and a moderate amount of padding, the SLS Kit Carbonio Flow saddle provides gains without any sacrifices.

The foundation of the SLS is its nylon composite shell, with its 'composite' designation being derived from its 10% carbon fiber content. Essentially, this mix provides the shell with a boost of support, while still providing a natural level of flex for comfort. However, if you're savvy to Selle Italia's SLR line of saddles, you've probably noticed that this isn't the only trait that's shared with the SLS. In fact, its dimensions are the same, with a 131mm width and 275mm length. But, where the two saddles change course is truly in the SLS' level of padding. Selle Italia ranks this saddle as an 'S2' in its Identity Matching System, meaning that it possesses a similar level of firmness to SLR Kit Carbonio Flow and C2 Gel Flow saddles. In terms of padding, you'll find that the SLS is far from ample but certainly not distressing. This makes it ideal for those with small-width sit bones and medium pelvic rotation. And for anyone who also prefers a low-profile design, the SLS has one of the lower measures from rail to top-of-cover in the Selle Italia line (46mm).

Further differentiating itself, the SLS Kit Carbonio Flow features a moderate-sized cutout along the center-channel of the saddle. As a result, that pressure is directed to your sit bones (ischial tuberosity), which are far more adept at supporting your body weight. Additionally, they're able to do so without causing numbness during long rides. This principle is further supported by the wide cut out, as it removes pressure from the pudendal nerve. The pudendal nerve is a paired structure, with a left and right nerve. It is formed in the sacral plexus, and in simplified terms, moves down the body between the piriformis muscle and the ischiococcygeus muscles, eventually attaching to the ischial spine. From here it eventually enters the pudendal canal within which it divides off into several branches including the perineal nerve and the inferior rectal nerve. Keeping pressure off of these nerves is imperative to reducing numbness while riding. To put it into perspective, the cutout is slightly narrower than the one found on the SLR Super Flow, which provides more surface area to work with.

The SLR Flow features Selle Italia's Manganese Tube rails. They're slightly heavier than the carbon fiber or Vanox Tube rails that are found on the top-tier SLR offerings, but they're light enough to keep the weight at around a respectable 210 grams.

The Selle Italia SLS Kit Carbonio Flow Saddle is available in a 131x275mm size and in the color Black.
