Selle Italia designers recently turned to the brand's successful past when deciding what its future should look like, and they liked the 1990's Novus line so much that they decided to bring it back. Though the brand is over a century old, Selle Italia isn't afraid of innovation, so they used the original Novus line as inspiration for a new, redesigned line including the Novus S Team Edition Flow Saddle. The Team Edition features the updated saddle chassis with a bit of graphical flair.
Constructed to facilitate generating power on the saddle's nose, the Novus S Flow is made with lightweight 316 Titanium rails and a durable Fibra-Tek cover, with a cutout in the middle for pressure relief and increased airflow. All of the models in the Novus line share a similar shape, but the fluted shaped of the nose on the Novus S is slightly more exaggerated to accommodate riders with narrower sit bones. According to Selle Italia's idmatch fit guide, if you fall into the S2 category, this is the saddle you're looking for.
The Novus S Flow balances padding with support for comfort that's both firm and responsive. It was also made with an eye toward keeping the weight down, with extra padding left out to weigh in at a claimed 225g. Selle Italia didn't want the saddle's low weight to be at the expense of long-term comfort, though, and the Novus S Flow manages not to cross the thin line between firm and uncomfortably hard by flexing enough to offer forgiveness on rough roads.
