Description

Save yourself from the numb.

The Flite Gel Flow is designed for riders who find traditional saddle designs a bit too pressure-packed along the top of the length of the saddle. It's identical in every way to the Flite Genuine Gel, with the crucial distinction of having a cut-out along the middle of the saddle. This cut out relieves pressure, while gel padding in differentiated thicknesses surrounds the cut out to ensure that the transition from saddle-to-cut out isn't overly abrupt. You get all the signature details of Flite saddles: A 10% carbon composite shell, plus thin "self-modeling" padding directly beneath its full-grain leather cover. It weighs the same as the Flite Genuine Gel at 220g. 130mm wide, 280mm long. Available in Black and White.

  • Titanium rails dampen vibration for a smooth ride
  • Full-grain leather cover will last a lifetime
  • Silicone gel inserts increase comfort without adding much weight

Italian leather goods, for your bike!

After a year of riding on an OEM saddle, I decided it was time for an upgrade. This saddle has proven to me that it is possible to be comfortable and sporty at the same time. It is cleverly designed, well made, and beautiful to look at. I feel silly for having used the OEM saddle for as long as I did.

I have been riding on the Flite for about a month now, and I can say that it has made a positive impact in my ride quality. The rails are solid, the platform is nice and stiff, and the cut-out area is pleasantly flexible. This allows for a firm and stable point of contact that can simultaneously accommodate the sensitive bits (I frequently ride 30+ miles without a chamois). It fits my body well and provides the perfect amount of support, plus the leather is a nice touch. There is little more that I could ask for.

It should be noted that this might not be a suitable choice for riders who like to shift positions on the saddle during longer rides (particularly while climbing). This may be especially true for people with very narrow hips, since the back of the saddle slopes down and out like a wing. This can rub/catch on the inner thigh (see side view image). Most of Selle Italia saddles feature this distinct shape. If this is a problem for you, I would recommend Fi' zi: k or Prologo, as they tend to not have as much of a dramatically sloped back end.

Update: just rode a century on this saddle (with PI Elite Chamois), and I am please to report that I remained pleasantly comfortable.
