Classic trail style.

Whether you're testing the trail waters for the first time, replacing a well-worn pair of kicks after a long season of racing, or looking to throw down in a local cyclocross race, the Scott Men's MTB Pro Shoes deliver all-around durability and comfort in a wallet friendly package. These shoes feature a stiff nylon and fiberglass sole and adjustable fit options to keep your feet comfortable through the longest, toughest trails.

Scott fashions the MTB Pro's upper from a mix of microfiber and 3D nylon over its Wrap Fit construction, which is essentially an internal layer of synthetic leather that provides extra support while conforming to your foot to reduce pressure points and increase comfort. A ratchet buckle spans the top of the shoe and two hook-and-loop straps across the midfoot secure the fit and make for easy adjustments on the fly. Inside you'll find Scott's Adjustable ErgoLogic removable insole with a customizable arch for additional support tweaks.

Underfoot, Scott incorporates a lugged, X Traction outsole for grip during hike-a-bike situations. Threading for two toe spikes on each shoe provides options for additional traction for easier navigation of muddy trails or steep inclines.

Great Shoe so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I tried a Lake and a Giro and neither fit anywhere near as well as this shoe. Right on size for me at 45. The inside is smooth with no hot spots or funky pressure points which allows me to run the shoe nice and tight without discomfort. These are also easy to walk in with a good tread and a rounded profile that aids walking in them. Plenty of stiffness for me and I don't race or anything anymore.

It's been dry here in this part of NorCal so very little mud. In several months of use they are performing admirably and feel great. We'll see what the long haul brings.

I will agree that the hook velcro on the receiver/shoe side is too short, especially if you like to tighten them down. I solved this easily by getting some E6000 glue and some glue backed velcro patches and adding a bit to the shoe side. The straps lay down nicely now. I took one star off for that.

Overall, a great shoe, seems like most of the effort was put into the shoe performing well and fitting great with no hotspots. I'll take that everyday... Very happy.

Comfortable, Needs More Velcro

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 45

These Scott MTN Pro shoes are the most comfortable and snug of all the ones I've tried: Scott MTN Pro shoes, Giro Carbide R shoes, Sidi Buvel shoes and Specialized Rime shoes all at once. They have good padding around the ankle and on the tongue, a snug heel and nice wide Velcro straps. My only complaint is that there is not enough Velcro on the shoe's upper. If you pull the straps snug across your foot, you may not have enough Velcro patch to keep them in place. On the other hand, Sidi gives you plenty of strap so you can pull it snug and have a large Velcro patch to secure it to on the top of the shoe. The only other thing is they were a half-size too big: I take a size 45 in Sidi, Specialized and Giro but would need a 44.5 in these Scott shoes. My feet are average width and slightly flat. The shoes I listed are all about $100 except the Sidi ($175). I use Specialized BG footbeds in all cycling shoes.

Excellent Shoe

I am happy with this shoe after about a dozen rides. It is well made and has quality construction. The shoe is plenty stiff for me and the tread is pretty grippy when walking those hike-a-bike sections. The shoe seems to breathe well so far. I originally tried both a 45 and 44 (I normally wear size 11 shoe) and settled on the 44 which is pleasantly snug.
