Nothing's worse than a flat … well, getting dropped is not that pleasant either. This brings to light one of the greatest battles tire engineers struggle with -- the balance of puncture resistance and rolling resistance. Schwalbe's Ultremo ZX Clincher Tire with V-Guard does the impossible, and is intended to reduce the potential for a flat without hindering ride quality or speed.

What makes this possible is V-Guard, a manufactured fiber spun from liquid crystal polymers. The resulting high-strength, abrasion resistant composite significantly boosts the Ultremo ZX's strength. While that's a bonus, it also doesn't affect ride quality by adding unwanted weight or stiffness to the tire's sidewall.

Schwalbe uses its RaceStar rubber compound on the Ultremo ZX that features a harder compound rubber in the middle of the tread. Schwalbe accomplished this by reducing the distance between their filler particles, effectively creating a denser, more durable rubber compound. When you ride in a straight line, this means that the internal friction of the rubber is reduced so you'll roll faster.

The rubber compound gets softer towards the shoulders of the tread for inspiring traction through fast corners. The casing, made from 127tpi polyester, offers a road hugging feel. It's supple and flexible to conform to irregularities in the surface of the tarmac.

The Schwalbe Ultremo ZX Clincher Tire is a race caliber tire that's durable enough to ride every day. It's available in Black in 23, 25, and 28mm widths.

Perfect for Training and Racing

This are my favorite clincher tires, they are relatively light and durable. Plus ride quality is great. perfect tires for wide carbon clinchers

Excellent Race Tire!

Of all the top tires made today, this is my wives favorite of all, and they are my second after Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX line. They are very smooth/spple, seriously low rolling resistance you can feel, and in our experience very puncture resistant. Puntures are often just time and chance, mostly to do with the rider and debrit they may have hit in the road, also a lot of riders push their tires too hard by overinflating them certainly if they are on rough roads as if you know any of the new science out, everyone pretty much knows now that 25's are faster than 23's providing the correct wheel and tire combination as well as more is not faster when it comes to tire pressure! This tire is a must try for anyone wanting a nearly perfect bench mark tire today, but as it is update now for 2014 to the Schwable One that will be its replacement.

Not Happy

Replaced a set of Michelin 4's with over 2000 trouble free miles with these and have had to temporarily put the old Michelin's back on. Most flat prone tire I can remember riding. Tends to oversteer on my bike. Mounted them on a set of Zipp 202's on a 2013 Ridley Helium and the bike became "twitchy". The bike no longer held a perfect line in a fast sweeper. Both tires are laced with nasty looking cuts. A waste of money.
