Schwalbe Muddy Mary Tire - Clincher $87.45
Muddy Mary, Muddy Mary, Muddy Mary.
A name like Muddy Mary highlights the benefit of this freeride tire's widely spaced knobs, but don't pigeonhole this German-designed rubber for sloppy conditions. Its PaceStar compound, along with SnakeSkin and Limited-Slip-Technology, give it an edge when trails are steep, loose, and rocky.
Schwalbe's PaceStar compound consists of a base layer that encourages malleability while warranting efficiency. Surrounding that base, and forming Muddy Mary's center blocks, is a medium-soft compound. This keeps them from folding under hard braking or under acceleration, while a soft compound is used for the side knobs.
The soft side knobs obviously help grip when leaning into turns, but they also contribute to Limited-Slip-Technology. The Muddy Mary's side knobs are designed to create more surface area when compressed in order to provide enhanced traction when it's needed most. And over varied, rocky terrain, Schwalbe's Snake-Bite sidewalls come into play. Jagged rocks are thwarted by additional rubber that's been wrapped around the bead in a cross-hatched pattern that's found on the sidewall. This helps prevent pinch flats and sidewall blowouts, all without weighing ol' Mary down.
The Schwalbe Muddy Mary Clincher Tire is available in the color Black and in a 26x2.35in size.
