Go anywhere.

Don't be fooled by its cyclocross-specific name, the 2016 Santa Cruz Bicycles Stigmata Carbon CC Red Complete Cyclocross Bike is in it for the multi-surface party that is your life of taking the road less traveled. Whether you're in it for the never ending quest for inner peace and calming wilderness or aspiring for a never-before-seen #explorenewroads photo op, this bike is up to the challenge. Kitted out with SRAM's top-end Red groupset and double gearing range, hydraulic brakes, and go-anywhere Maxxis Mud Wrestler tires, this Stigmata is versatile enough for epic adventures while retaining a bit of edgy cyclocross flair.

The Stigmata's geometry enables its versatility beyond the mud and barriers. Modern dimensions like a 72-degree head angle, 73.5-degree seat angle (based on 56cm model), and a 69mm bottom bracket drop fall neatly between Euro-'cross high and road-racing low and caters well to a wide range of ride styles. In real world terms, the Stigmata is comfortable and stable without sacrificing surety of handling or responsive feel, and it has enough bottom bracket clearance to navigate bumps and other obstacles along the way.

This version of the Stigmata sports Santa Cruz's top-shelf CC carbon lay-up, which delivers robust strength and stiffness alongside lightweight efficiency. Up front, the Stigmata CC Cyclocross Fork uses this same high-end carbon for uncompromising stiffness and strength when you need it most.

While cyclocross racing has its limitations on tire width, venturing off the course opens up myriad possibilities of plush. With that in mind, Santa Crux designed the Stigmata to accept tires up to 41mm wide, allowing you to drop the pressure (especially when running tubeless) for a more comfortable ride when your day in the saddle involves dozens of miles of limestone gravel. On the flip side, you can also toss on a set of skinny road tires to throw down on the local group ride or noodle through the city on a Sunday social.

Thru-axles at the front and rear add poise and confidence for better tracking across rutted-out straightaways and sweeping switchbacks. Add in the ability to accept 140 or 160mm discs, and you get a sprightly ride that also slows down in a hurry when you need it to, no matter how mucky or wet the conditions. Internal cable routing cleans things up by running the brake and shifting cables through the fork, providing a bit of added cable protection and improved aesthetics over frames with external routing. For riders worried about future compatibility, the Stigmata's ability to run both mechanical and electronic drivetrains keeps it relevant in today's ever-shifting landscape of technology.

  • An all-terrain bike that takes the party beyond cyclocross
  • Pairs modern geometry with Santa Cruz's high-grade CC carbon
  • Internal cable routing maintains clean lines while getting dirty
  • Responsive ride and on-point tracking compliments of thru-axles
  • Double chainring offers a wide range of gears
  • Accommodates tires up to 41mm in diameter

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Cyslocross, sure it can handle that. Gravel grinding, yup, it can handle that too. Long summer road rides, no problem. The beauty of this bike is that it can do all these disciplines to the highest level and allows you to have one bike, not 3.
When you want to hit the gravel this machine will fit 41mm wide tires to allow for plenty for mudslinging and trench digging, although I would recommend 40’s, some 41 will give you some rub, depending on profile. However, when you want to put the Assos kit on and pretty up it will handle effortlessly with skinnies, I would recommend Gatorskins 28mm, but that’s me.
This bike and many others at this caliper are changing the game, it’s a lot of cash, but when you’re getting 3 for 1 it is not bad at all. As a fan for X1 I think there is a place for the 2X still, especially if you plan on using this as a multi-purpose machine. The 46/36 has been a great ratio for cross and road riding. Sizing on this is pretty standard, I’m a 52 on the road and the 52 fit me prefect, so no need to size down (saddle height is 71.0cm, measured from center of BB to top of saddle). If I did more rode riding with it I would have went with a 54cm for a more upright position. Please hit me up if you have any questions or need anything at all – happy to help out. If you don’t see your size in stock let me know we do have some on the way. Wait I almost forgot to mention…it’s laterally stiff and vertically compliant. What a bike review without saying that;)

What's the widest mm tires that the rear can accommodate before rub?
Looking to get a 40mm Gravel King or 43mm Rock n Road on the back of some carbon cx for commutes that mix on/off road.

We have had luck running a variety of 40c tires, but not much larger than that. I am 100% confident in the 40, but the 43 could be pushing things a bit if you are riding in rain/mud.

Best of the best gravel/cross/road

"If Ferrari made an off road vehicle, that's what it would be like to ride the Santa Cruz Stigmata"--One of the best, most versatile bikes we offer the Stigmata is becoming a legend in only a couple of years. I own this bike and I must say pulling the trigger on it was the best bike decision I've made in years. If you are looking for a single bike to do all things skinny tire style, the Stigmata is your rig. It rides well on the road, exudes courage in gravel and can handle any CX course you will encounter. Light, smooth and spunky would sum it up. To put things into perspective I have a Pinarello collecting dust in my basement because there is a new boss in the house! If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up!

We do have some closeouts coming in with very good pricing. Contact me for details. If you need help configuring this bike or have general questions feel free to reach out to me direct. Ive got around 1500 miles on mine over various terrains so very familiar with the performance over time.
