Why We Like The Santa Cruz Nomad C S Mountain Bike

Bombing down technical descents or just finessing the flowy jump lines, any type of riding we are doing is complemented with the Santa Cruz Nomad. With its do-anything capability, mixed-wheel design, and 170mm of VPP suspension, the Nomad can bomb down the roughest and chunkiest double blacks we can find and is still efficient enough to climb back up and do it all over again. A slack 63.8-degree head tube angle gets our front wheel far ahead of us on descents for maximum stability, and a steep seat tube angle, averaging 77.7 degrees, gets us upright and over the pedals for efficiency when climbing. The mixed-wheel design allows us to have two bikes in one, giving us rollover capability with the 29-inch wheel up front and a playful and agile back end with the 27.5-inch wheel in the rear. Size specific chainstay lengths and seat tube angles give every rider of a Nomad a stable platform and an efficient climbing position, and proportional carbon layups ensure optimal frame stiffness for every size frame. The latest Nomad features a more linear suspension curve and a lower leverage ratio, allowing for better traction, stability, and a more sensitive ride. An integrated Glovebox frame storage allows us to keep our essential ride items in the bike's downtube, and an integrated downtube protector, chainstay protector, shock fender, and shuttle guard protect our frame from damage. With a Flip Chip in the shock link, we can make the Nomad slacker and lower for more confidence in the steeps, and the shocks leverage curve gets more progressive for more bottom-out resistance. No matter what the day brings us, as long as we are on a Nomad, we are confidently hucking it down anything.

The S build is perfect for riders who want quality components without the hefty price tag. First, Santa Cruz's Carbon C frame is stiff, lightweight, and made to the same standards as Santa Cruz's Carbon CC frame. Next, SRAM's GX Eagle drivetrain gives us a reliable 12-0speed drivetrain with a proven track record and a huge gear range for conquering any climb. RaceFace AR Offset 30 alloy rims paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs give us confidence plowing through rock gardens, and Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHRII enduro tires provide tons of traction and bite to instill confidence on the steepest of descents. To help us send it down the rowdiest of trails, the Nomad is fitted with a Fox 38 Float Performance up front sporting 170mm of travel, and the Super Deluxe Select+ in the rear soaks up the big hits and gives us a comfortable and plush ride.

*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
