Item # SAL3136

Mmmmmmmmm early-morning running trails ... and bacon.

You are the world's toughest woman. You aren't afraid to let the tears roll during Old Yeller, you admit to having indefensible weaknesses for bacon, chocolate, and chocolate-covered bacon, and when you're wearing the Salomon Women's XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoe, you devour trail trash for breakfast. Tighten the asymmetrical lacing system on the XA Pro and relish the tingles of boulder-gnashing and (tree) limb-ripping anticipation that course through your veins. Of course, the shock-waves of excitement might also be due to the promise of a bacon sandwich at the end.
Quick-drying and breathable mesh creates the upper on the XA Pro 3D. Sensifit and Endofit technologies wrap your foot in form-fitting security and refuse to let go until you loosen the laces. Asymmetrical lacing follows the natural contours of your foot and give your foot and ankle free range of motion. The OrthoLite insole has an EVA heel cup to help hold your foot in place when you're screaming up 2,000ft scree fields. Despite the XA Pro having a fairly low profile, ample internal volume exists in case you want to exchange the OrthoLite insole for your custom-molded inserts.
The 3D Advanced Chassis minimizes lateral rolling while smoothing the transition from impact to toe-off. Dual-density EVA moves the midsole from merely soft into the realm of the mystic. This supple material cushions every footstep while remaining a bulwark against sloppy foot motion. The protective toe cap saves your tootsies so your foot looks good in strappy sandals, even after a 10-mile trail run. The Contragrip outsole is molded into toothy lugs for a reliably firm grip, regardless of how tricky the terrain.

I own several pair of Salomon runners in the past and was very disappointed with these. The quality have declined, the seam where the tongue was sewn onto the inside of shoe chafed my foot and caused blisters. Like another reviewer, I wear size 6 and the cup of the heel cut high and also rubbed against my ankle bones. Kudo to BC's return policy and I was able to exchange for another brand of trail runners.

I love this shoe. I bought a size 9 anticipating running down some steep grades. The toe box has plenty of space. The tightening system is super easy and you don't have to worry about shoe laces coming untied. The tongue of the shoe contains a pocket where you can tuck the excess cord under. The rubber on the shoe is nice and thick my toes feel very secure. I will be using this shoe as an approach shoe and a trail running shoe. I think it is going to be great for scrabbling on granite in the spring. The tread is nice and hearty. The last thing is the arch support. I have fine arches but when I first put these shoes on I realized how under supported my arches have been in previous running shoes. They feel great on the trails my ankles feel secure above these shoes. I wouldn't use this particular shoe for much street running it may be rough on the feet. I also love the purple color. They won't be clean for long though!

Didn't work for me

I love Salomon shoes and have two pairs of boots and a pair of running shoes from them that I swear by. However, the cups around the ankles on these came up too high and rubbed the ankle bones on the outsides of my feet. Bummer, because otherwise these shoes seemed awesome. I'll be returning these and looking for something else for trail running. For reference, I wear a size 6.

Nothing better!

I bought my first pair of XA Pro 3Ds about 8 years ago and have been loyal to them for hiking and trail running ever since. These shoes just plain work! They are comfy and not super clunky, they provide enough stability and support to be on your feet all day, hiking through varied terrain. And they look good too! Just hiked a 14er in CO in my newest pair!

Wife loves them!

She loves to hike but dislikes the look of most hiking shoes! I have a pair of the men's version and highly recommended them to her! She loves the fit and stability and above all the way they look! Scored me some brownie points!

    Buy it!

Not normally a Salmon gal but tried them out because I heard great things and I'm sold! Great trail running shoe, no real need to break them in, ready to wear! I'll buy another!

    Great Shoe

I got these to use as my hiking shoes because I didn't want real hiking boots but wanted something with a little more substance than other trail running shoes. The scree mention in the description is what truly drew me in and I did indeed use them in scree and they were fabulous. The only complaint I have is that they let sand in very easily and it feels like you have a desert in your shoes, but that's an easy fix-just don't wear them in sand!
They seemed a little narrow at first but then after using them they feel really good. Would definitely recommend/buy again. I'm excited to use them in mountain hiking this summer.

This shoe is very comfortable, stable, quick to lace up. I wore it he next day I got it. I did not feel any pain or sore. The shoe has enough room for my toes to breathe and yet I feel the safe. I recommend this shoe to all my friends.
