From training to race day.

Salomon designed the Men's S-Lab Wings Trail Running Shoe for long-distant races on dryer terrain. The upper features stable SensiFit straps, EndoFit's smooth internal sleeve, and 3D stretch air mesh for breathable comfort that moves with your foot. A combination of protection and feel, the Profeel Film gives the S-Lab Wings a proven long-distance formula for light trail performance. Descent Control helps this shoe give you proper motion control for downhill running. Salomon fine-tuned the S-Lab Wings' Contagrip sole for wet, slippery surfaces, and added three layers of EVA for moderate to maximum cushioning. The Quicklace drawcord provides a snug fit that's faster to tie than you can run.

My favorite trail runners

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

After several years of using the speedcross 3's and wearing them out extremely fast on rocky terrain I opted to switch to these for the more rocky trail days. These have a similar fit to the speedcross 3, but with lower profile lugs that dont wear out nearly as fast. Roughly 400 miles on them and they are still going strong. Traction on pure rock is also increased, but expect some decreased traction on leaves and soil.

I've even used these for fastpacking, but I wouldn't recommend it as they don't carry a heavy load well / don't have enough cushion for that. The fit is so good that when combined with the quasi rock plate I found my feet to be much less fatigued than with the speedcross 3.

These are intended as a dry trail shoe and are best used in those conditions. They can get wet easily and do not dry out fast because of the sockliner rock guard.

Bottom line I have a ton of confidence opening up my stride on downhills in the mountains and will definitely be purchasing another pair of these in the future.

I am 6 ft 2 in with big legs, I have tried the low cushion shoes and they don't work for me. I transitioned from la Sportiva Bushido, which I destroyed in one year, to the wings. I run them around 50 miles already, in alpine conditions. They are a little bit imprecise going uphill, but super responsive and permissible downhill. I can go faster with this ones than the Bushidos.

Love them
