Rotor is well known for its ovalized road chainrings and its cranksets. Now it has taken this technology and applied it to mountain biking with a series of chainrings designed to get you up and over faster. The QX1 is the first ovalized chainring designed for a 1x drivetrain.
Ovalized chainrings are not new. They actually appeared briefly years ago under the name Biopace but failed to attract a strong following. Not to be put off, Rotor took a new eye to the concept and redesigned the oval ring. What does an oval ring do? Well, they are essentially designed to maximize the efficiency of your pedal stroke by prolonging the power zone and minimizing dead spots. The rings are machined with a subtle oval shape and, with multiple mounting holes, can be "clocked" to maximize the effects for your biomechanics, pedaling style, and bike geometry. The QX1 has an ovality of 12.5%, which helps you accelerate better, and experience smoother torque and better grip off road. Additionally, the alternating thick and thin tooth profile keeps your chain from dropping — even in the roughest conditions. This eliminates the need for a chain guide.
The Rotor QX1 Chainring comes in sizes 28-tooth to 36-tooth and in the color Black.
