What's all the fuss over the ovalized chainrings you're seeing popping up everywhere, from pro TT bikes to XC crushers? The oblong shape of the Rotor Mountain Q-Rings lends more leverage to the pedal stroke, extracting more power from your legs and more efficiency at the same time. The effect felt on the bike is a smoothing of the pedal stroke, less exertion to achieve the same speed and power output, and a reduction in that "dead spot" you feel during each rotation.
This particular chainring is a 38-tooth outer mountain bike ring with a Bolt Circle Diameter (or BCD) of 120, and it is intended for use with 10-speed drivetrains. It is compatible with both SRAM and Shimano drivetrains, as well. For best performance, Rotor recommends running Q-Rings in tandem with others (unless, of course, you are running a single chainring drivetrain system). For maximum benefit of the Q-Ring design, install the chainring so that the long axis of the ring aligns with the crank arm.
