Cut the drag.

Working within the constraints of even the narrowest bottom bracket standards forced Rotor to rethink aerodynamics for its new crankset. So, using the accepted PressFit30 as their foundation, Rotor engineers teamed up with Garmin's aerodynamic expert, Robbie Ketchell, for the undertaking. What resulted is the Rotor FLOW Aero Crankset, which relies on the proven 3D plus technology and Trinity Drilling System, but incorporates an ultra-slim crank arm and disc-like spider profile throughout to reduce overall drag as much as possible.

Starting with the FLOW's crank arms, the 3D Plus technology stems from Rotor's Trinity Drilling System. On this crank they drill all three parallel bores from the spindle end rather than alternating the direction of the bores from both ends of the crank arms as on the original 3D Road Cranks. Through this same-end drilling process, they are able to relieve the 3D Plus arms of even more excess material and therefore excess weight, while maintaining the rigidity and strength you need. Where the FLOWs differ from the standard 3D plus arms, however, is in their profile. The FLOWs are slightly thinner, which, combined with their rounded edges, provide a claimed savings of 6 seconds over 40km when averaging 200 watts, compared to standard cranks.

The Rotor FLOW Aero Crankset comes with an anodized black finish and are available in four crank arm lengths — 165, 170, 172.5, and 175mm. Select from two BCD/chainring options — 110mm for compact 50/34 or 130mm for standard 53/39. The alloy Micro Adjust Spider (MAS) provides fine tuning of Rotor's Q-Rings, and it attaches to the splined base of the drive-side crank arm. It is both 10- and 11-speed compatible and can be fitted for both Rotor's Q-Rings and round chainrings.
