Rotor made its mark on the cycling world largely through the effectiveness and popularity of its Q-Rings, but it still recognizes that there are those who prefer to stick with round chainrings. That's why the Rotor 3D Plus BBright Crankset accomplishes just that, and it's setup to perfectly complement a Cervélo R5ca frame.

Rotor first explored the use of alloy 30mm bottom bracket spindles through its involvement with the Cervélo Test Team. And while the Trinity drilled arms and compatibility with round or Q-Rings remains the same, these Rotor 3D Plus road cranks have a few small differences in comparison to the Rotor 3D Road Cranks.

The rigidity, light weight, and overall strength remain unchanged. The 3D Plus Road crankarms are all of that due to Rotor's proprietary Trinity Drilling System. On this crank, Rotor drills all three parallel bores from the spindle end. This is contrary to the 3D road cranks' drilling, where Rotor alternates the direction of the bores from both ends of the crankarms. Through this same-end drilling process, Rotor was able to relieve the 3D Plus crankarms of even more excess material, and therefore excess weight. And just as importantly, this was achieved maintaining both the rigidity and the strength-to-weight ratio that you need for race day. On top of this, the CNC machine work and laser etched graphics give Rotor cranks a distinctly industrial appearance.

The 30mm alloy spindle is sized to work with either BB Right or BB30 standards, and while the spacers for BB30 are not included with this crankset, they are readily available. In fact, with the proper Rotor bearing cups (BB30-BSA), the 3D Plus is able to be used in a standard 68mm English-threaded or Italian-threaded bottom bracket shell. In any application, Rotor's clever design and machine work is evidenced by its use of a locking preload collar that makes bearing adjustment a breeze once the crankarms are installed and torqued to spec. This preload collar is another difference from the standard 3D Road Cranks, as they use a different system to connect it all together.

The Rotor 3D Plus Road BBright Crankset is compatible with Cervélo BB right specification, BB30 frames (adapters not included), and classic threaded frames that use Rotor "BSA30" BB cups. It's available with a 170mm, 172.5, or 175mm crankarm length and compact 50/34t or standard 53/39 round chainrings. The 3D Plus Cranks have a 147mm Q-factor.

I want to know that how to install this crank on BB30 frame.

Could you tell me the name of specificated adapter?

My frame is BB30 type.

This crank requires an adapter to be used on a BB30 frame. The adapter can be purchased directly from Rotor.

I want a Q Factor Rotor Crank, do you know if this is the correct one? Picture shows a NoQ.

Q factor and Q rings are completely different.

This crankset comes with standard round rings...NoQ

Q factor or "tread" is the distance between the crankarm ends where the pedals attach- 147mm when installed on your bike.

Is this Crankset 11sp compatible? More specifically is it compatible with a Shimano Ultegra 6800, 11-speed, drivetrain (FD, RD, Cassette, chain, etc...) in a 2011 Felt B16?

I have a 2012 cannondale super six with a 10 speed drive train an a bb30 bottom bracket will this crankset work and if so what other parts would I need?

No. A BB30 bottom bracket specifies a spindle length of 68mm. BBRight specifies a spindle length of 79mm. As you can gather, the spindle would be too long. You would need a BB30 to BBRight adapter, if such a thing exists.

Would this crank fit in a 2014 Ibis Hakkalugi disc frame? BB86 bottom bracket.

Best Answer

The BBright standard is something that is somewhat unique to Cervelo. This crankset is compatible with frames equipped with bbright bottom brackets, and can be run on a threaded 68mm frame with the proper bottom bracket from Rotor. It is not possible to run it on an 86mm press fit bottom bracket.

would this go with Cervelo S5???

would this go with Cervelo S5???

It should work with the Cervelo S5 as long as it is the BBright.

Hi- What is the weigh of this crankset, and what adaptor is required to make this crankset fit a 2013 Ridley Noah?

Will this crank set fit a standard 68mm...

Will this crank set fit a standard 68mm English threaded bottom bracket?

Yes with this BB Item # RTR0001

I thought that 68 English threaded bottom brackets can't accommodate the 30 mm width internally. Greg these rotor adaptors allow you to put any BBright crank in a a 68mm English maybe with spacers?

Greg, that's incorrect info. A BBright crank will be ~11.5mm too short with that bottom bracket. A standard (non-BBright) Rotor crank will fit with that Rotor bottom bracket. BBRight cranks have an 11.5mm shorter spindle than a non-BBRight Rotor Crank. BB30 refers to how wide the spindle is, but not how long it is.

Jimbo, A 68mm English threaded bottom bracket shell is plenty larger than 30mm internally, it's the size of the bearings in the bottom bracket you install that determines how wide of an axle will fit in. In short, this Rotor bottom bracket has smaller bearings so the hole to fit crank spindles through is 30mm instead of 24mm.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I realize that this model is no longer in stock, but I bought this on sale from you guys and all I can say is that this crank is fantastic. I can feel the difference from the original crank that came on the caad 10 105 vs. the rotor crank...super stiff and it is lighter..doesn't hurt that the crank looks sweet on the bike as well.

will this fit a cannondale caad 10 frame?...

will this fit a cannondale caad 10 frame? bb30? and is the bottom bracket included?

Best Answer

Should be OK on the Cannondale. No bottom bracket included with that crank, but right now is a killer deal on those cranks/rings from Competitive - can't go wrong.

Yes it will fit a Caad 10. It does not come with BB but if you buy this you need to contact Rotor and tell them to send you the necessary spacers. I took photos and emailed Roto exactly what came with the crank from Competitive and they sent me the necessary stuff. Cost with postage was $13. Ask for Cameron, he rocks.

Will this crank set fit a standard BSA (BB30) threaded bottom bracket?

@Saran you asked a question under the answers section. I would either re-post a question or if you want an answer a lot quicker go to the contact us tab in the upper right hand corner and click on Chat with an expert now. They are super helpful.
