SID RL Solo Air 120 Boost Fork - 29/27.5+

RockShox's SID line may be considered the skinnier, lighter younger sibling amongst its big, brash, all-mountain family members like the Pike, but with the 29/27.5+ SID RL Solo Air 120 Boost Fork, RockShox has shown that the XC discipline isn't isolated from the fluidity the sport is experiencing as a whole.

With current trends dictating the creation of trail machines capable of crushing apocalyptic lines only to turn around and dance up root-latticed climbs, the industry is demanding versatility, and the SID RL Solo Air 120 responds admirably. The fork's 120mm of travel and pared-down design eliminate every ounce of excess weight, providing XC responsiveness paired with four-and-a-half inches of bump-devouring plushness in a design that challenges the boundaries of XC.

New for this year, RockShox revisited the chassis design for the SID RL, keeping its focus squarely on XC efficiency and reworking the shape of the fork to add stiffness and eliminate excess material and weight wherever possible. This version even goes so far as to incorporate the increased rigidity and responsiveness of Boost spacing. Magnesium lowers and straight-wall aluminum stanchions offer a blend of lightness and durability, while RockShox's factory-tuned Motion Control DNA damper works to smooth out your ride quality when you steer your featherweight frame into rock gardens that the rest of your XC ride crew shies away from. RockShox made room to integrate its Dig Valve and Rapid Recovery into this version of the SID RL as well, both of which work to keep the fork consistent during high and low compression and recovering faster between consecutive hits.

When you decide to veer off buttery singletrack and head into uncharted territory, you can adjust the SID RL's lightweight Solo Air spring to adapt it to more rugged terrain, and it's built to be filled via an easy-to-use Schrader valve that keeps each air spring chamber correctly balanced relative to the other for a luxuriously smooth ride that will leave your fellow XC cohorts more than a little envious.
