We love the traditions of old-school Euro Pro bike racing. We're talking about the golden era of our youth: Saronni, Hinault, Lemond, Kelly. Back then you could always tell who a team's leader was by one small-but-important signifier: He had white bar tape. And the team leader always got a fresh roll every day: sweet, pure, spotless white. The domestiques got to grovel along with grimy black tape and used it day after day 'til it was disintegrating on the bars. It was class discrimination at its finest, and entire revolutions have been spawned from less.
As we all know, Cervelo sponsors Team CSC and few teams in the history of the peloton have been more egalitarian than CSC. Bjarne Riis believes in one principle above all others: On any given day any CSC rider can step up to be the team leader. That's the cornerstone of their success, and it's also the reason why every CSC rider rides with white bar tape.
