If you purchase a Campagnolo Record Ultra Torque Compact Carbon crankset in order to take advantage of its unique gearing, this is the only other special component you'll need to buy. The inner plate of the Record QS Compact Front Derailleur looks similar to the old Record Triple front derailleur, while the outer plate has the height of a double but a steeper curvature to it that nicely matches the tighter circumference of the smaller outer chainring.

New for 2007 is Campy's front derailleur metamorphosis to the new Quick Shift (QS) design. The outer cage is longer to complement the change in Ergopower shifters for 2007 -- you can achieve front shifts more quickly with a lighter touch to the lever than in the past. Please note, however, that the QS Compact front derailleur is compatible with pre-2007 Ergopower levers, though shifting between chainrings will require at least two lever pushes. Conversely, you can use a pre-2007 front derailleur with a 2007 QS Ergopower lever, though it will require a higher force to shift.

The braze on version requires 7Nm to fasten the derailleur to your frame. The clamp-on version requires 5Nm. The Record QS is 69g for the braze on version. Available in Braze-on, 31.8mm, and 34.9mm. If you have a steel frame that requires a 28.6mm clamp, you'll need to choose the Braze-on style and purchase a 28.6mm clamp separately.
