We didn't understand the appeal of sleeveless base layers until we started riding in them. Sleeves under short sleeve jerseys are a pain. It's more material bunching up under your shoulders. Whether we're doing a single layer under short sleeve jersey or need something next-to-skin under several tops on cold days, we opt for the no-sleeve option. Sleeveless makes even more sense if you want to wear a base layer under a sleeveless jersey.
Craft's Women's proCOOL sleeveless base layer is their lightest wicking base layer, and one of the lightest around. The garment utilizes Craft's proCOOL hexa-channel fibers to better keep the perspiration off your skin and transferred to the outside of the layer, where it then transfers to the outside of the jersey, where it dries. The mesh knit creates more air pockets across the surface of the fabric, maximizing ventilation and air to skin contact. Even as temperatures soar, proCOOL keeps you dry and comfortable. The women's proCOOL sleeveless is ideal when the temps are moderate, say from 50-80 degrees.
The fabric is very cool, and that alone is worth plenty, but the fit helps Craft tops stand out even in a crowded field. Crafty designers spent their time figuring out what fits and what doesn't. Notice how the side panels (yes, side panels on a base layer), wrap around the body, starting from the back and moving to the front as it goes down to the waist. Notice, too, how it tapers to the hips and flares to the waist. A wide collar means it can be worn under more than just cycling jerseys.
