Long sleeve wool jerseys have the comfort of your favorite sweater but the performance of any other performance garment. It is good for chilling at the après-ride cookout, but it’s also great for riding in cool weather. Rib knit at sleeve ends and neck are snug and warm without being constricting. Bar tacking at major stress points means yanking the jersey on and off won’t be destructive.
We certainly get questions about caring for wool. The good thing is that this wool is pretty easy to care for. It’s not like the old days when you had to hand wash with Woolite and then carefully flat dry away from sunlight or it would shrink to fit a six-year old. First off, wool doesn’t need to be laundered after every use. Let it dry post-ride and observe and sniff to see if it needs washing. Chances are you can go several rides between washes. But, if it’s muddy, the best thing to do is to wait until it dries and flake it off. When it comes to machine-washing, on cold, with the other fabrics that need cold is ideal, but warm and even hot water washing has been tried, and seems to work, at least in some cases. Flat drying is ideal, but it can tumble on low, and we’ve heard of a few hot dry cycles not affecting the garment.
