Wind vests are one of those on-the-fly creations like knickers. We had windbreakers for years and suddenly someone showed up with a windbreaker without any sleeves. Why do we love them for cool weather riding? They're lighter, stuff in pockets better, and for mild conditions, don't get as hot as windbreakers do. With their Summit Lite Wind Vest, Capoforma seems to have eliminated the one negative that vests had. The average vest is too loose in front, a literal and figurative drag.
The vest front, sides, and half of the back are made of WindTex Flight Plus, a 130g windproof nylon fabric. The back is half covered in WindTex, half in mesh. Capoforma felt that a 100% mesh back meant the shoulders and neck got wet and cold on damp days. There is ample reflective piping on the seams in front, on the sides, and in back. The 5cm collar is a bit higher than Capoforma's short and long sleeve jerseys, and as long as their winter jackets. They've installed a two-way zipper on the vest so riders can zip up from the bottom to get to their jersey pockets. The Summit Lite Vest comes in the following colors: Grey, Navy Blue, and Red.
