Minding cadence can make you faster, as you can learn when to shift up or down, or if you need lower gears on your bike. Back in the day, people ground ridiculously high gears over big hills because the reigning wisdom was that no one needed a gear lower than 42x21. Of course, riding at 50rpm is painful and inefficient, though it does make hill climbing a weight-room workout without the weights.
The Mavic Cadence Sensor comes with a wheel magnet, sensor designed for chain stay mounting, zip ties and a CR2032 battery. It sends a 2.4Ghz signal that can be read by all 2009-onward Mavic Wintech computers.
