PINARELLO FP3/SRAM FORCE COMPLETE BIKE
You get what you pay for. No phrase better describes the Pinarello FP3/SRAM Force Complete Bike. It's a perfect tightrope walk of pro-quality aesthetics, unerring performance, and value unlike anything we've ever seen from Italy. Few models evoke the short term and long term pleasure of race bike ownership like an FP3.
With the FP3 you're getting trickle-down technology from Pinarello's signature carbon frameset, the Prince Carbon. Think of it as the close cousin of the Prince Carbon. The FP3 is made in the same front triangle mold as the Prince Carbon, but with a different composition of carbon fiber. The Prince Carbon is made from what's technically known as 50HM1K carbon fiber -- a high-modulus carbon that has a tensile strength of 50 tons per square cm (30HM), and an exterior weave of 1000 waves per crossing (1K). The FP3 has a tensile strength of 30 tons per square cm, with an exterior weave of 12K carbon. The 12,000 waves per crossing (12K) give the carbon latticework squares a pronounced diamond-like largeness, bolder than what you see in the tight weave of 3K or 1K. The fork and stays are a different version of the Prince's curvaceous Onda design. The ride quality, the handling, and the style are inspired and informed by the Prince Carbon, but it comes with a substantial cost savings.
The FP3 comes as a complete bike with the new-for-2010 SRAM Force build kit. When you combine the quality of the frameset with the quality of Force, it's an unbeatable value for a race-ready bike. You get SRAM Force Doubletap levers, Force derailleurs, Force chain, and Force cassette. The crankset is the alloy SRAM Rival, and the brake calipers are Pinarello's own MOST brand. It also comes with a Pinarello MOst carbon seatpost, carbon stem, and alloy handlebar. The Pinarello MOST Wildcat aero clincher wheels and Continental Ultra Sport tires round things out. It combines Pinarello style, technology, and race heritage, then matches it to the most sought after components of 2010 in SRAM Force. The FP3 is the rare instance of a pre-configured bike that needs no upgrading -- it's a purebred race machine out of the box. It's available in numerous color options, in 10 sizes.
