PINARELLO FP2/SRAM RIVAL COMPLETE BIKE

There is more to a race bike than the sum total of its parts. By having reached this web page, it shows to some degree that you appreciate this fact. How so? Because in the ~$2,000 price range, there exist numerous paths of least resistance -- the Treks, Specializeds, Cannondales and other brands whose annual marketing budget are quadruple Pinarello's annual revenues. These easily-found bikes certainly aren't bad -- but they are everywhere, and we don't look upon that too warmly. Your choice of race bike is a statement of personal style, and one beauty of the Pinarello FP2/SRAM Rival Complete Bike is the strong visual resonances it has of Pinarello's upper range. At a price where most bikes look just one short step removed from $800, the FP2 could play stunt double for a Team Caisse d'Epargne Prince Carbon.

Pinarello's race heritage goes back a half century -- experience that translates into deeply-held beliefs about how a race bike should handle and how it should look. Diving into a switchback on a mountainous descent? The FP2's geometry is built with the same intent as the Prince Carbon's -- your overall feel of connectedness to your machine is priority #1. Ditto on the paint, the decals, and the graphic treatment: The price of your Pinarello is immaterial. The fact that it IS a Pinarello means it'll meet a formidable standard.

Like the rest of the top echelon of Pinarello's race bikes, the FP2 is built from carbon fiber, what's technically known as 24HM12K carbon. It has a tensile strength of 24 tons per square cm (24HM), and an exterior weave of 12000 waves per crossing (12K), giving the carbon latticework squares on the exterior of the FP2 a pronounced diamond-like largeness, bolder than what you see in the tight weave of their 3K or 1K bikes such as the Dogma Carbon and the Prince Carbon.

The FP2 comes as a complete bike with a SRAM Rival build kit. When you combine the quality of the frameset with the performance of Rival, it's an unbeatable value for a race-ready bike. You get SRAM Rival Doubletap levers and derailleurs, along with a Force chain, and Force cassette. The brake calipers, crankset and bottom bracket are Pinarello's own MOst brand. It also comes with a Pinarello MOst carbon seatpost, carbon stem, and alloy handlebar. The MOst Wildcat clincher wheelset and Continental Ultra Sport tires round things out. The FP2 combines Pinarello aesthetics, technology, and race heritage, then combines it to the best bang-for-the-buck componentry made in SRAM Rival. It's available in numerous color options, in 7 sizes.
