This frame is identical in every way to the standard Responsorium with one key difference: The Responsorium Ciaveté is painstakingly hand-painted by Dario himself. While Dario's paint, even in his stock models, is always supremely appealing, there's a serious difference in terms of time and emotional commitment between spray-and-stencil vs. handpainted-by-brush. That difference is what you're paying for here. Your frameset will be worlds more than just a delightful bike, it will literally become Dario's canvas.

The Responsorium Ciaveté is made from Columbus XCr stainless steel tubing. By using stainless, Dario can build his Responsorium models with smaller tubing diameters, thinner walls, and more substantial butting than what you get on his Niobium Spirit bikes such as the Marcelo and Duende. The smaller diameter tubes, thinner wall thicknesses, and enhanced butting profiles make Dario's XCr bikes the smoothest and calmest he offers. It also makes them his lightest steel bikes.

What does "Ciaveté" mean? A great question, glad you asked....It's pronounced "Cha-vah-tay", and it's a pretty blunt piece of Veneto dialect. "Fuck off" is what it means, and it's what Dario is saying to the cancer he was diagnosed with in 2006. In case anyone doubted Dario's inner fire to overcome his illness, the name of this bike -- his highest-end bike no less -- says it all.

Please note that the photos above show the Responsorium Ciaveté with a steel, box-crown 1-1/8" threadless fork. The stock Responsorium Ciaveté in fact comes standard with a Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon fiber fork. The steel fork shown above is indeed an option, but it adds $300 to the cost of the frameset, making the total $4600. Beyond adding cost, upgrading to this steel fork will also require added lead time for delivery since they are made to order. The Responsorium Ciaveté requires a 1-1/8" threadless headset, a 32.0mm front derailleur, a 30.0mm seatpost (no, that is not a typo), and an Italian bottom bracket. It's also available in custom paint and custom geometry at an upcharge.
