The Ferrari branding on the Colnago 60th Anniversary bicycle isn't a mere marketing ploy. The technological development of Colnago's carbon bikes has always been done hand-in-hand with the Italian composites firm ATR. ATR also so happens to be the company that collaborates with Ferrari on all of their carbon-specific R&D for their Formula 1 team. Naturally, there is extensive technological crossover there, and the close relationship spawned from this is best evidenced in the well-known photographs of Ernesto Colnago and Enzo Ferrari standing arm-in-arm in a Ferrari boardroom, as well as Colnago's trackside presentation of a Ferrari bike to Michael Schumacher. Just as the mere presence of Kimi Räikkönen's scarlet machine idling in the grid is a statement to his rivals -- we're-higher-tech-than-you -- the Colnago 60th Anniversary is the bicycle equivalent: faster, sleeker, more precise, and more lavish than any other carbon bike on the market today.
The 60th Anniversary features every last detail of carbon technology ATR and Colnago have developed together. The backbone of the bike is Colnago's Extreme Power frameset. Its exquisite paint scheme is customary Ferrari Red at the front of the bike, transitioning to a Colnago's gorgeous "Twill Weave" finish at the rear -- a nude carbon latticework so tight and symmetrical that nary a drop of paint is required to touch up imperfections. The Extreme Power represents the pinnacle of Colnago carbon technology. Its oversized tubes and molded internal ribs make it the delight of sprinters and big-gear mashers like Team Milram's Alessandro Petacchi. It weighs a mere 50g more than a Colnago C50, but it offers a 30% increase in stiffness.
The component selection on the 60th Anniversary is suited well for its lofty purpose: You get a full Campagnolo Record gruppo, including a matching FSA Plasma carbon fiber handlebar/stem, and a matching Selle Italia saddle. Perhaps no detail is as fine as the choice of wheels: Lightweight Standard tubulars. What company other than Lightweight is as true to the cost-be-damned spirit of F1 racing? The 60th Anniversary bike is all about pure performance, and the amazing wheelset choice fits the bill flawlessly.
The 60th Anniversary is decaled on the downtube with "Colnago for Ferrari", with the legendary yellow/black stallion logo on the head tube. It is available as a complete bike only -- and upon submitting your order, you'll receive a call from us in order to finalize key details including your preference for bar/stem size, cassette ratio, and cranklength.
The 60th Anniversary is available in 7 sloping sizes between 45cm and 59cm, and in standard sizes in 1cm increments between 52cm-65cm. It is limited to 199 pieces worldwide.
