The P3 Carbon is the choice for cyclists determined to take full advantage of Cervélo's industry-leading work in aerodynamics and materials engineering. In contrast, the P2 Carbon departs from this cost-is-no-object approach and instead gives you the better part of the performance of the P3 Carbon with a few choice modifications to save you a whopping $1,500.
Every element of the P2 Carbon is either identical or a slight variant of what you'll find on the P3 Carbon. For example, the headtube has a narrow, aerodynamic design only marginally wider than what you'll find on the P3. Same goes for the seat tube: Like the P3, it's built with a rear wheel cut out to manage airflow. It has a constant width no thicker than your rear tire throughout its entire length. The cut out isn't quite as large as the P3 Carbon's, and the seat tube itself isn't curved, but it covers a bigger surface than any other TT frame on the market built with a straight seat tube.
The P2 Carbon comes equipped with the incredibly aero carbon fiber Cervélo Wolf fork and dual-position Cervélo Aero carbon fiber seatpost that allows you to choose either a 75 degree or 78 degree seat angle. It's the same fork and seatpost you get on the P3 Carbon, and you get the P3 Carbon's integrated seat tube collar design that smooths out the aerodynamic profile at the seat tube/top tube intersection. And the monocoque carbon construction of the frame means that you'll experience the sort of drivetrain stiffness you expect from any high-end Cervélo frame.
In comparison to the aluminum Cervélo P2 SL, the constant width cut out of the seat tube on the P2 Carbon leads to a more aero frame profile. Its carbon construction allows Cervélo to give it a more aero seat tube, downtube, and seatstays. Also, its Cervélo Aero Carbon seatpost is a lower-drag design than the version used on the P2 SL. Lastly, it saves you 150g in frame weight.
The P2 Carbon is available in 6 sizes between 48cm-61cm. The 48cm is a 650c wheel size, sizes 51cm-61cm come in 700c only. It is available in White/Black/Red.
