Turner Grease Gun Setup and Use

Turner Bikes are well known for their use of journal bearings on the pivots of their full-suspension bikes. These journal bearings, commonly though inappropriately known as "bushings," are lubed via micro-zerk grease fittings at each pivot. We've ridden Turner bikes for years and know that the greaseable pivots make maintenance super easy. All one needs is a Turner Grease Gun Kit.

The Turner Grease Gun comes mostly assembled. All that is required to get rolling is the Dualco grease gun head and the tube of M-Prep grease. The cap on the tube needs a simple cut with a knife and then it threads right into the Dualco head. A few squeezes on the button and it will self prime. At that point, you will be ready for action.

When you are ready to lube the pivots on your Turner Bike, push the needle of the grease gun into the Zerk opening. When you start to squeeze the button, the grease will inject past the ball in the fitting and fill the entire pivot with fresh grease. At the same time, old nasty grease will be forced out past the seals on the sides of the 'bushings.' When new grease follows the dirty stuff out, the job is complete. Be sure to wipe off any excess grease to avoid attracting grit on the next big ride.

There are multiple pivot points on a Turner Bike, so be careful to get to them all. You'll be able to enjoy a squeak free and smooth operating rear suspension for a long time. It's quick and easy so we like to do it when we wash the bike, just because it helps to form a habit. Of course, the service interval will depend on personal riding habits, how clean you keep your bike, and what conditions it gets ridden in. Dirty, hard riding will demand more frequent lube service.
