Under the influence of newfangled CAD software, CNC machines, and colorful anodization, the late '90s burgeoning aftermarket favored alloys milled into impossibly complex, eye-pleasing shapes. Out of that primordial soup, Race Face's Turbine crank emerged — honest in both form and function; it successfully blended the coveted strength-to-weight ratio, and that tradition continues with this Fat Bike Crankset.
Just like the original, arms are forged and machined — now out of high-strength 7050 aluminum — with a slightly modified I-beam profile for maximum fatigue resistance and power transfer. Connected to the crankarms is a butted, forged, and CNC-machined chromoly spindle.
It is designed for 100mm shells, and the Turbine Fat Bike Crankset is available for either 170 or 190mm rear wheel spacing. The spindle uses Race Face's EXI interface (external bottom bracket system) for easy crank installation and removal with standard tools. In fact, it has a crank bolt puller cap to make removal a snap with just an 8mm hex wrench.
The included Turbine Bottom Bracket features triple-wiper seals to retain grease while keeping contaminants out. It uses 6805 16-ball retainer bearings with titanium coated races for excellent resistance to corrosion. The Turbine Fat Bike Crankset is available in a 175mm length with a 104mm BCD, and removable 64mm granny spider. It comes in Black or Red finishes.
