When Race Face introduced the patented head design found on the Next Seatpost, it not only simplified saddle installation and adjustment, but it also dropped serious weight from the competition's bulky alternatives. The design is also ideal for its carbon shaft, as it distributes loads more efficiently.

This means Race Face could optimize the 3k-carbon weave for the lowest possible weight, without sacrificing strength. Because the forged and CNC-machined 6061 aluminum head binds against the shaft to make tilt adjustments, forces are distributed away from the high-stress place that typical carbon posts are bonded, and often fail.

The design also offers unprecedented adjustability, with infinite tilt that is completely independent from fore and aft adjustment. Another important feature is the side-clamping, low-profile rail system. It distributes loads to the clamp, rather than the bolt — virtually eliminating the possibility of sheared hardware, and a limp home stuck standing on the pedals.

The head accommodates both 7mm- and 8mm-rails, while providing a full 35mm of support to avoid saddle failure. The Race Face Next Seatpost has a .5in setback and is available in 27.2, 30.9, and 31.6mm diameters, and one length: 400mm.
