Are you using the middle ring from a triple for your singlespeed or DH ring? That's a good idea if you plan on using it once. Regular rings just don't hold up for very long under the added stresses of DH or singlespeed riding. The ramps and pins designed to aid in shifting also feel funny and try to throw the chain. The RaceFace SS/DH Chainring is super-tough but incredibly light, so it will stand up to the added punishment of single-ring riding without steel-ring weight.
