Prologo DoubleTouch Bar Tape $0.00
Most of today's padded bar tape is made of synthetic materials, which often become slippery when either cold or wet. So, Prologo developed its DoubleTouch Bar Tape to solve this issue, as it combines a tacky, absorbent cork top layer with an EVA gel base.
Along with Prologo's shock-absorbing, dual construction used throughout the length of the tape, it also decided to continue with this 'best of both worlds' philosophy by varying the tape's density throughout. Down at the drops, Prologo employed a thin and durable 'StrongTouch' tape that provides the firm feel that's necessary for both descending and sprinting. This relatively thin composition then moves into a thicker 'GelTouch' makeup at the hoods and tops sections, which provides ample cushioning and support.
The Prologo DoubleTouch Bar Tape is available in the colors Black, Blue, Red, Silver, and White. Two adhesive-backed rolls come in each package, along with two bar-end finishing plugs.

Pretty damn good...
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
OK...we all know white tape is the way to go. Clean white tape is just so fresh and so clean (props to OutKast). And yes, it gets dirty, but that dirt is the sweat and suffering that one has amassed in the pursuit of this thing we call cycling. It's a badge of honor.
I don't worry about the guy with the clean tape. I worry about the guy with the dirty, worn tape.
This ProLogo stuff is good because :
It's easy to wrap. Plenty stretchy without feeling like it could tear/break at any moment.
It's plenty long for wide bars, and big hooks. Hell, I do the figure eight around the levers, AND have my tops double wrapped on 46cm Deda deeps. Still plenty of tape left over.
The "Double Touch" set up is pretty ingenious. It's normal tape at the bottom...up thru the hooks, but when the tape reached the levers, the "gel" begins. It does nothing to affect how the tape is wrapped, unlike some thicker tapes. Still stretchy...still wraps evenly.
It's damn grippy, even when wet...and without gloves. And the tape FEELS good in the hands. Some tape just doesn't "feel" right. If you ride enough, you know what I'm talking about.
For the regular price, it's better than it's "cork" competitors. At the $12 sale price, there's really no need to consider anything else.
As for the wear question, we'll see...it'll be changed out far before it's "worn" out.
Which brings us to a "Pro-Tip" :
Change your bar tape people. Sweat runs down your arms, to your hands, and is absorbed by your tape. Then it sits on your bars, doing it's salty best to eat a hole thru the aluminum. Oh yes, it happens...a lot...
And there we are...
