Scratch 2 CPC Saddle

Many of us are leery of trying new saddle technology — more so than maybe any other component. Like you, we've spent years riding different options and figuring out what works best for our particular bike/body interface. So we initially approached Prologo's Scratch 2 CPC Saddle, with its strange patches of little suction cup tubes, with some trepidation. Turns out that, like dimpled patterning on deep dish carbon rims, this new texture was developed for a good reason.

The Scratch 2 CPC's outer layer is a microfiber fabric that incorporates Prologo's proprietary CPC technology, which is a textured surface treatment that keeps you in place. When viewed up close, the surface itself the CPC looks like small volcanos — as weight is applied to them, they open up and provide a vacuum-like grip. It's not literally being glued to your seat, but it's about as close to that state as we'd like to come on a bike ride.

The base is made from carbon-injected nylon for an ideal balance of durability and weight that keeps the price down. The material's stiffness varies across its body, with the middle providing more flex to absorb road noise and bumps. The padding is Prologo's lightfoam, which is firm enough to keep you from bouncing in the saddle but soft enough to keep you in the saddle, period. The rails are made of TiroX, a steel alloy chosen for its light weight and impressive strength. It's been proven in the aerospace industry, so you can rest assured that it's capable of handling as many hours in the saddle as you are.
