I tested this on my first real ride -- 70 miles. The jersey keep me cool during the heat (upper 80s) and the front zip came down easy on the ride for extra ventilation. The pockets are awesome, especially the hidden pocket, which is zipper so you don't have to worry about losing the important stuff. It also looks great and the red is a really nice color.
My one complaint is the front zipper is really uncomfortable below the halfway point (between the sports bra and belly button). I have another jersey that's a 3/4 zip that is not bothersome, so I don't think it's just the length. I itch while note on the bike, thought I didn't really notice it on the ride. But, for the money, I expect comfort in both places. This is going back. If not for this, I would have rated the jersey 5 stars.
Didn't actually get a chance to try this out on the bike, so I'm rating a 3. I have about a 33 bust and the S (size small) was REALLY tight (it hurt to try it on) -- maybe due to the shelf bra. If the medium were in stock, I would have done an exchange and I think that size would have been good. Up close, the pockets seem decent and the material looks great.
Took this jersey out on two 50 mile test rides. One day was in the upper 80s, and you could feel the sweat coming through, especially on the hills. When it started to cool off and get more flat, the sweat evaporated quickly and it became a comfortable ride. It's super soft and looks really great on the road. Beware that this is no zipper, but that didn't bug me, even in the heat. This one is staying in my collection.
This is the first pair of biking shorts I ever got. I'm new to road biking, but I've worn these on 5 rides now (the longest just less than 20 miles, 14-16 mph) and I have to say I don't even think about these shorts when I ride. They don't pull on the legs or the waist and I didn't get any chafing. The length is really nice (not too long, not too short) and I feel comfortable walking around in the shorts.
The back seams are a little weird and I can feel that they are not flat when I wear them. Also, I agree with Linda that the crotch part does get a little sore after (along the sides), but I'm unsure if it's the shorts or just if I'm new to biking. I was perfectly comfortable during the ride and will be using these shorts on RAGBRAI, about 70-80 miles per day.
