I always ride in wool tees but this one, though cute, is very sheer and not very soft. Icebreaker, smartwool and endura all make softer wool tees. I returned it.
The wool in this jacket is super itchy, which only matters when you zip it all the way up as the inside is coated with windproofing (seems like it would be very windproof), but the neck and chin were really, really itchy. Don't think this wool could possibly be merino? For the price, not worth suffering the itchiness...
This top is some of the softest merino around. I usually buy Icebreaker, but this is just as nice and a lot cheaper. The neck is stretchy (unlike some of the icebreaker LS tops) and so is easy on/off, which is great when you are out riding.
So nice to have colorful shorts, but they sure do get dirty easy and don't come clean. Unless you have a brand new saddle, expect all the dust that has gathered there to transfer to your shorts and stay there. Or get the black! Super cute cut and nice weight for summer.
These socks are branded Twin Six, but made by Sock Guys, who everyone knows make the best socks for mountain biking. They are just socks, but they are awfully nice socks.
This jacket is perfect for mountain biking. Compacts into a small enough bundle to stuff into my pack and is super lightweight. The double zipper for venting is key... you can use it as a wind jacket without overheating, and it allows for temperature modulation. I haven't used it in a heavy downpour, but in a light rain I definitely stayed dry. It looks good, fits well and does everything you might want in a rain jacket.
