These pants can only be considered "baggy" or "mountain" if you have grasshopper legs and wear tight jeans all the time. I have a pair of size L Pearl Izumi Canyon shorts, and a pair of XL Sugoi RSX shorts. The Pearl Izumi fit normal and the Sugoi's are a bit large on me. I normally wear size 36 pants, so I followed the size chart and went with the XL. Since 36 is the low end of the XL range, I was expecting a more baggy fit similar to the Sugoi's. Not really. I felt like I was putting on a pair of spandex shorts. These are kind of in-between the baggy freeride or all mountain style kind of gear and road shorts erring more on the road short side.
I love this helmet, but it absolutely does not fit me. There really isn't any adjustment to be made, so this helmet either fits or it doesn't. In my case, it is not snug at all laterally and fits very loose in that dimension. This helmet has proper rear coverage extending to the base of the skull, and is far far lighter than it looks. I like the crazy styling, and it even comes with a cool helmet bag/cover and sheet of stickers to rice out whatever needs some ricing. If you have a rounder head, then this should fit you pretty well.
This helmet is not exactly what I was looking for since the extended rear isn't really *that* extended (comes maybe 1/2-way down the back of my head). The fit is good, it is super light, and the profile is very slim. I was tempted to send this helmet back since it wasn't really what I thought it would be, but the aforementioned advantages and a price comparable to the LBS Generic Helmet mean that I can keep it around as a backup and not feel like I'm lighting cigars with c-notes.
I was looking for something with more coverage around the back of the head. This helmet looks like it has good coverage, but really does not since it sits so high on my head. This helmet is very comfortable, and I thought it was The One when I fist put it on, but then looked in a mirror and saw how high it sat and felt where it didn't cover as much of my head as I hoped. For a helmet universally described as "moto-style extended rear coverage", it really isnt. It makes me wonder what a helmet without this moto-style coverage is...an armored yarmulke?
I can't knock the recon too badly though since I just don't like the way it sits on my head, and it isn't really the style I have in mind. If you don't mind something with less rear coverage, then this helmet will be great.
...and that is because I went over the bars and landed on my head within my first two miles with this helmet. I will probably buy another to replace it since I have not found anything else at all comparable. This helmet has much better coverage for the back of the head than the others that I've tried (661 recon and Uvex XP), and it is very light. I wanted something that fit more like a real helmet, with a visor, and without the skate/dirt jump kind of styling. The Urge Endur-o-Matic was the only other helmet I found that comes close, but my head is not round enough for that helmet.
