I usually wear either a medium or large in bib shorts (5'7", 149 lbs), so I ordered CEP's size II and III. Forget about the II. I managed to get the size III on, but they're so freaking tight you can't move. I didn't use them because I wouldn't be able to return them, I but I could tell just by walking over to the mirror in them that the compression was so great that they would be restrictive to the pedaling motion and end up slowing me down. I have other bibs that offer compression-- garneau, desoto, giordana and none of them are this bad. I can also see these ending up ripping or tearing while trying to put them on your body. I read the description and I get it, they're supposed to be tight and you're not supposed to worry about how tough it is to get them on, but this was, in no uncertain terms, ridiculous.
I have cep calf sleeves and love them. These missed the mark-- COMPLETELY.
Tried them on, not really much compression, the pad is really small and really thin. Not worth it, even at the sale price.
Anyone have an idea about sizing w/ de marchi. I was wearing a large (I'm 5'7") and I weighed about 158 lbs, but I've lost 10 lbs and the bibs don't fit as well as they once did. I'm wondering if a medium would fit better, but there's also a change from regular fit to slim fit when you go down that size.
I already own 2 whisper plus helmets but I really wanted a white helmet. I took a shot on the mixino, for some reason, catlike helmets are the only ones that fit me well.
This one is no exception. The shape is a bit different than the whisper plus- but I got over that quick enough. The venting and fit are a large step up (as if that was possible). The new retention system easily adjusts to you head and stays put. The straps seem to be located a bit more forward, but given the comfort level, it's not a big deal. At 275g for a large, it's a winner.
I could feel the difference in ventilation almost immediately, catlike did a really nice job w/ the channeling. I just went for a 106 mile ride today and after a quick adjustment after putting the helmet on, I never touched it again.
Oh yeah- added bonus-- my sunglasses easily fit (and stay put) when I take them off my face and put them in the helmet on long climbs in the heat.
Update: I've been using the mixino exclusively for the past 2 months (over 2500 miles of riding) and it's outstanding. I even purchased one in Black. Unfortunately, another retailer dropped their price on the mixino some forty-four dollars less than this retailer. They wouldn't match the price (for either) so I purchased from the other retailer and returned these here. Dumb business move, but great helmet.
I got these and used them on a long ride- very nice. Washed them (delicate cycle) and hang dry, used them again the next week and when I went to wash them I noticed the stitching in the chamois had started to come undone.
$200 for that? No thanks-- I'll stick w/ demarchi, desoto and craft.
I bought these on chainlove for 29.99 (plus shipping). First pair went back as they were too small to fit any kind of liner underneath, even a superlight silk weight one. Got the right size, took them out in 32 degree weather and my hands froze. Fortunately I took an extra polypro glove that fit OVER the castelli glove. Then it became manageable. They're going back, they don't keep my hands warm and I've come to the conclusion that the best I can do is get xxl or 3xl windstopper gloves and then use liners and gloves of varying thickness underneath those to keep my hands warm depending on the temp.
they look nice though.
In recent years I tried the 310's and 315's, but they just never fit right. I've had serious foot issues the last few years, so bad I had to use custom orthotics that were too thick for most shoes, and, while much better, it still wasn't perfect (and only certain cycling shoes would work with them).
After reading a bit about these and hearing good things online, I decided to give them a shot. No more orthotics. I've been using them since early January exclusively. I don't use my other shoes anymore and I haven't used the orthotics with these shoes at all. They got it right- the arch support, the design of the shoe, even the sole and the adjustable fore/aft.
Wow, just WOW! I love them- I don't even think about my feet anymore when I ride. They're comfortable. I haven't even had them custom molded.
I picked up one of these on chainlove. It arrived, I tried it on- the one size thing works very well. I'm usually between a medium and a large and this was really nice. I already have 2 other helmets- a catlike whisper (not the plus) and a giro aeon.
As much as I liked this helmet, it felt much heaver than the other 2. Then I put it on my scale. Forget the claimed weight of 280g- more like 350g.
The whisper weighs about 280g and the aeon is just ridiculously light (around 210g), so I packed it up and it's going back. Another drawback is the "kask" emblems that block the vents you'd otherwise be able to put your sunglasses through and have them stay .
Just not worth the extra quarter pound!
I picked this up w/ RC's "buy the bib, get the jersey". I really wanted a cool orange jersey, but orange seems to be out this season. For what I paid for the set, the price wasn't bad, but after wearing the jersey twice, the fabric is starting to pull. I'm wondering how long it will last.
I loved these bibs- they were comfy, did the job and then....... the stitching started coming out in the crotch and the chamois started separating from the shorts. No good-- had to go back.
