Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The good - very much waterproof. I've worn this in a driving, 48-degree rain and stayed very dry under.
The less good - I'd hesitate to wear this in anything but a steady, all day rain. It heats up fast, and one you get above mid- upper 50s and the rain tapers off, you're getting steamy underneath. But, when it's raining and miserable, it's great at keeping your core dry and thus warmer.
The real negative tho is something I notice about all Gore bike products - the fit is just not great. The jackets are all oversized, causing a ton of flapping in the wind. Sizing down works, but even then It's just not a tailored fit like a cyclist would want. I want to love this jacket, but I just like it.
