The material and workmanship is good. I'm 6'1", 175pds and usually order Castelli one size up, but in this case the L was actually quite roomy in the torso but a bit short overall and particularly in the back. I'm average to slightly smaller than average in upper body length. The XL would be too big, so overall not for me.
Zipper quality was very poor, felt like it would tear off very quickly and gets stuck on the fabric behind it. I'm 6'1"/175pds and found the XL to be tight in the arms and body and on the short side, so recommend ordering two sizes up. Would probably work as a pure wind barrier, but I had the impression it would provide a light thermal layer, but this is a very light weight (and packable) wind vest only. Quality and workmanship is not what I would expect from this brand.
I was looking for a shell I could wear over a jacket (I also have a Gore Phantom) on rainy days, but packable in a jersey pocket. The material is stiff and plastic-feeling and it would be a tight fit in the jersey pocket. I'm not convinced a waterproof jacket has to feel like a hard plastic shell with all the exotic materials out there these days, so I'd have to rate the material as worse than expected. I'm 6'1" 175pds and found the XL to be the right size to be worn over a jersey and jacket, perhaps just a bit big in the body if intended to be worn with only a jersey but it's borderline. The arms are appropriately long and the back is extended to provide protection from water coming off the back tire.
The two star rating is based on my intended usage as a third layer shell. Others may find it better suited to their use.
Like the shorts, top quality material/construction, just right compression and length. On a 55 mile ride the padding was very good, might like just a little more if I was going any further. So perhaps as the name implies these are best for racing and short to medium distance rides. I'm 6'1"/175pds, around average to slightly short in the torso and found the Large to be just right fit in the legs an shoulder straps.
Extremely high quality jersey in fabric and construction. Would definitely recommend. I'm 6'1" 175 and find the XL to be just right fit.
I bought size Large and it weighs 342g which surprised me. I have a Bell Furio which is a low end helmet that ways 322g. I was hoping the Volt would be around 280 (as advertised), noticeably lighter than the Furio on a long ride. Still, everything else about the helmet feels very comfortable and it's about the same weight as the Giro Saros helmet (330g) that I returned (looks huge, and the adjustment mechanism is not as easy as the Volt's wheel).
I really feel the super premium price point of the helmet should be on the light side of the spectrum, hence the three stars.
RealCyclist is awesome in their customer service, excellent return process and cheap return shipping makes ordering risk free.
Is this jacket light enough to tuck into the jersey pocket when it stops raining?
Will this jacket fold up small enough to put in a jersey pocket?
