Here's what others have to say...

The black foam strips in the helmet can be removed. Giro also includes additional blue foam strips for even more precise fitting. Replacement black strips can be purchased for about five bucks.

Stops on a dime. I now have pads on my bike without fins and they are great. I bought backup pads with the fins to see if there is a recognizable difference between the two pads. Shimano says the fins benefit those who do a lot of down hill riding. I see them extending as the life of the rotors no matter what your style of riding is.

Like the FD-M781 front derailleur, the RD-M780's shifting is precise. The M780 comes in long (SGS) and mid length (GS) versions. I've got the SGS version with the CS-M771 / 11/36t cassette. The GS version reduces the possibility of a large rock taking out your rear derailleur when you ride over one.

My other bike has an SLX crank set and it rides good and works well. The M780 crank set will not make me go faster, but it will stand up to more punishment because of the superior manufacturing processes involved in making it. If you are going to invest in a M780 make sure you've already worked out the gear ratios you want on your entire drivetrain. The gear ratio between the M780 chain rings (24/32/42) and the Shimano M771 cog set (11/36) that I own are so close that I have to work harder than I want to in order to avoid overlapping gear combinations. I hardly use the granny gear going uphill and when I go all out with the 42t chain wheel on a downhill incline, I'm not getting the speed I want. Maybe a 2 x 10 with a larger chain wheel is my next step. Do your homework before you buy.

Shifts quickly and precise when paired with the FD-M781, and RD-M780 derailleurs. It's not a requirement, but it?s a good idea to have the complete XT groupset (add the FC-780 crankset and M771 cassette).
