Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I purchased these booties for the off-chance of rain here in Northern California. As luck (?) would have it, it rained 2 days after buying the booties. I wore them 2 days in a row, each on 65+ mile rides through light rain and mist/fog. Everyone in the group commented on the incredible visibility of my feet as I pedaled through some pretty low viz days, including heavy fog. Clearly, POC got this really, really right.
As far as weather resistance, my feet stayed nice and dry, and never got too hot in the 50-55 degree weather.
There are a few concerns, though: 1. a small hole developed on day 2, which was enough to let some water in when I tested them in the sink that night (though seemed to be dry after riding in very light rain earlier that day). 2. if wearing socks that do not extend over the top of the bootie, there is a bit of uncomfortable material backing the zipper that abraded my calf.
I'm exchanging these for a new pair and will test the durability again to see if they last over time and use. As far as being functional, the high visibility and waterproofness are great. We'll see how the materials hold up, and if the next pair has the same discomfort issue (which would likely result in loss of a star).
I wear a size 42.5 Giro road shoe and these fit fine in size L. Could have been a little bit tighter, but I'd imagine the M would be a bit too constricting.
