Familiarity: I've used it several times

Fit is excellent--XL for me a 6 foot 200 lb male. Mesh and lighter material in the legs and straps lend a nice ventilation touch. Chamois is very good--more sculpted than others I've used. Padding at ischial tuberosities was spot on, perineum a bit thin. Shorts are comfortable and supportive so it might just be that I'm not used to the chamois design. Leg length is good but the short's legs do shift a bit up the leg--a couple inches at most-- while riding versus their location when standing. I use Giordano and Craft shorts in rotation with these Mavic--these are right there with quality and fit.
Everyone looks good in black spandex but I also like the bright yellow leg bottom--adds a bit of visibility. Overall very good for regular use.

Bought one pair and liked them enough i bought another. Fit is snug on my X:L size at 6 ft and about 200 lbs. The fit is designed to be at its best on the bike not while standing at the kitchen sink. Bib straps are long enough let you stand straight and are snug without restricting movement and though they are narrow they are comfortable on the bike. These are not compression shorts but the fit and material are supportive. Chamois is one of the best I've ever tried and my cycling short history goes back to the real leather chamois lining in shorts. Not too thick and good shape to fit saddle compression points well.
