Matthew Van Wagner's Bio

I grew up in New Hampshire, went to college at Virginia Tech, lived outside NYC for a bit, then moved west to Salt Lake City. Although my degree is in Architecture, I've been bumming around the Wasatch for the last two years trying to wrap my head around these amazing mountains. I moved out here to backcountry snowboard, so that is my main focus right now.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am 5'10" 165lbs and the 32x30 is perfect in length and waist. These pants are really durable, have some stretch for pedaling, and look just as good off the bike as on. I try not to wash them too often because I've heard they loose their water-resistance, and when I do I use "active wear" washing liquid (same stuff I use for my bibs). Really comfortable and versatile, 45 degrees is my cutoff for whether or not I wear tights under them.

Good small/mediumish packing
4 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are a good way to get the backpack off your back - I've found they pretty much fit what I could stuff into a regular-sized backpack. Good in the rain, and really stable on the rack with the lower velcro straps to help keep them tight to the wheel. Very easy to pop on and off - I use them with a PDW rack.
