Mark Parrett's Bio

I used to be a road bike racer but I moved to Utah and realized it is better to be mediocre at everything here than good at one thing - so I still ride on the road but have tried to branch out into dirt (even gravity!) and all of the other ways to roll around the Wasatch.

At Backcountry, I'm the product manager for community and I'm always excited to hear your thoughts about how we can improve the experience on this site...

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I like these gloves as much as any I've used. I wish they still made them like the old Pearl Izumi bombers, but they don't, so this is a good substitute. The gel in the hands is really thin but enough to absorb some vibes when I'm on my hardtail, and the gloves vent like they're not there, which is great in the summer. Overall I highly recommend - I tried all the gel gloves at Backcountry and these were the best.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like these for short fast runs as I tend to heel strike when I try to go fast and the drop in this shoe, along with the extra cushioning and light weight work well for that purpose versus a zero drop trainer or minimalist shoe. If I could only have one shoe I would not love these as I prefer less drop usually for longer runs, but as a part of a rotation these are great. Also really nice for hill runs because they are silly lightweight.
