WOW! That pretty much sums up my thoughts after installing these. I procrastinated for a long time before taking the plunge to replace my Alixer 5's and now I'm thinkin' I should have done this a long time ago.

I was overwhelmed at the firm yet fully controllable braking modulation. A far greater range of control than any previously owned brake. The adjustable levers are wonderful. I have ridden these brakes for a year and 4,300 miles and they have not even begun to soften up. No maintenance at all other than lube the levers, check pads and caliper torques occasionally.

The installation was smooth and without any problems. I did make some changes that most won't be doing. After years of riding motorcycles, I have adapted to the front brake being on the Right. So I swapped brake lines to accommodate that habit. It's a standard in Europe and other places, but not here in the USA. My point in stating this is the brake line swap was painless and didn't even require a bleed if done correctly. Very simple installation. Well worth the effort for those who are comfortable doing this.

These pedals have seen it all. Incredible abuse, hard powered down-strokes to rocks and roots...repeatedly. I have one year and 4,600 miles on these and they have been off the bike for just one lube and service at 3,600 miles and were looking good. I thought of servicing them sooner, but they really didn't need it when I did get around to it. They are snap to lube. Look up the tricks! Two Thumbs Up!

I now have 3 pairs of these Zoic?s and I find them some of the best mountain bike shorts I have owned. They are comfortable in all of the right places and offer plenty of zipper access pockets big enough for carrying whatever you can think of. Lots of zippered vents that afford full control on airflow. They are rugged and can take a beating and look great wash after wash.

As a rule, the mediums fit me best, but my last pair of mediums ran a tad small in the waist (and I have NOT gotten bigger). They were returned and replaced with a size large and everything is good now. Pick up a pair of these performers and you won?t be disappointed!

Texas summers can be dry and dusty with little or no moisture on the trails and I picked these up as something that would hopefully provide a better ride on loose dry stuff. For that reason alone, they seem to perform as intended, but push them and you'll find they have their limits. They seem to transition to moist and damp with unenthusiastic results. When pushed in the dry, loose stuff, they demonstrate predictable drift and slide, but give them roots and rocks and the results become less than desirable. Add some dampness or even slightly wet and they get unstable and can provide some adrenaline inducing moments. Personally, any application beyond the dry loose stuff exhibits unfavorable mannerisms that do not inspire confidence. On anything wet they will provoke adrenaline spikes and fear. Quick to find your butt on the ground will be the unexpected outcome.

One notable tip is I found these to be a little better under hard cornering with a slightly higher tire pressure than I normally run. These are not the TNT casing that I'm writing about here. They are a bit more robust than the straight AKA's I'm referring to here. Under 23 lbs. of pressure these tires had a propensity to roll the tire which yielded disagreeable handling that I can do without. Obviously, higher pressures eliminated this.

Some have stated they do well on dry concrete, but my observations don't agree. On dry concrete their limits are easily exceeded. They will break loose prematurely regardless of tire pressure. To be fair though, the induced drift remains fluid, predictable, and controllable. However, these are simply my opinions and others will possibly find these traits to be attributes. Two wheel drifts on hard pack or concrete is simply not a desirable characteristic for me personally.

The Trabec Race is a wonderfully comfortable fit (on my head) that I place a premium on. Don?t know how it will fit on your head. Good padding in the right places. I like the way the strapping adjusts for a custom fit if you?re willing to take the time to tinker with it. It appears to offer better protection than any of my other helmets (Giro and Bell) as well as the fit. It does not have the sleek lines of most other helmets?sort of blocky looking.

The downside for me is fitting a light to the top is not as easy as with other helmets due to the limited vent holes and the respective spacing, but I have made it work. Another down side is the visor. I would prefer a slightly larger, extended visor and available in black. Minor distraction for me. The upside is the perceived increase in available protection is paramount and that?s why I bought it. It?s not the least expensive helmet, but then my head doesn?t have a value placed on it.

One comment I?ve heard is the reduced ventilation?I ride in Texas summer heat and have not found this to be a significant problem. It seems to flow much better than I anticipated and as such, I have no complaints on venting.

Overall construction appears to be standard North Face quality. The sizing ran very slightly large when compared to other bike jersey makers. That wasn't as much of an issue as the general fit was loose and baggy. Not at all what I want in a bike jersey. I do not have a thin, swimmer's like body...more stocky than thin. So if it's loose and baggy on me, then a thinner person will have issues.
